  • LED bulbs tend to have a much longer lifespan compared to other light bulbs. A 700-lumen LED bulb can last for over 25,000 hours. Whereas a 700-lumen incandescent bulb only lasts between 1,000 - 2,000 hours. (The Light Bulb, 2022).  This quality is a major plus point for LEDs as it helps reduce costs on maintenance and replacements. 
  • Energy-efficient LEDs have extremely low heat emissions compared to incandescent lights. Standard light bulbs use 90% of their energy consumption towards heat energy. This means that a significant portion of energy consumption by standard bulbs goes to waste. (Stouch Lighting, 2022). 
  • LED light has little to no UV emission. LED light models produce a single light that converts the blue light into a white light with the help of phosphors. Since this blue light is relatively pure, it produces no UV emissions. (Sciencing, 2018). This quality provides even more environmental benefits to an LED bulb.
  • LED bulbs have an improved quality of brightness compared to other light bulbs. These light bulbs provide more focus compared to an incandescent light bulb which means that you don’t have to spend more on purchasing multiple light bulbs. (Consumer Energy Alliance, 2021). 
  • CFLs are another option for energy-saving light fixtures; however, LED bulbs still perform better than CFLs. A CFL with a lumen output of 900 consumes 15 watts of energy. By comparison, an LED with a similar output only consumes 13 watts. (The Lightbulb, 2022). Even though there is a small wattage difference between LEDs and CFLs, there is still a potential for savings with LED light bulbs. 
  • LED light bulbs do not burn out the same way incandescent light bulbs do. Most conventional light bulbs reach a certain peak and then immediately burn out. LEDs, however, go through a process called lumen depreciation, where the intensity of brightness gradually decreases. Even after LED light bulbs reach this point, they still provide illumination, albeit at a lower level. With this feature, consumers can save on replacement costs over the long term.   • LED light bulbs are safer to handle and have a higher resistance to electric shocks. This is because solid-state lights are difficult to damage with physical shock. By comparison, incandescent light has a filament encased with glass which is highly fragile and prone to physical and electrical shocks. (Stouch Lighting, 2022).
