Radiator Sizing Guide
The Sizing Guide is a guide to assist you in selecting the correct LIFESTYLE Radiator for the room/area you need to heat. Calculate the floor area (m x m) of the room/area and the total length (m) of the outside wall. Using the floor area calculated (m2), select the nearest size from the left-hand side of the table and match this with the length of the outside from the top of the table. This will tell you what size Radiator is required to heat the room/area. Key Features of ATC Lifestyle Heaters
ATC Lifestyle Radiator vs. Central Heating
The growing movement towards renewable energy is something that concerns many users, and so electric devices such as the ATC lifestyle electric radiator are becoming more popular day by day.
There is no inefficient combustion or chances of harmful emissions that come with the use of gas boilers – lifestyle radiators only bring efficient and controllable warmth with no long-term maintenance costs to worry about.
Central heating is known to be temperamental to the extent that the chances of it breaking down at the wrong time are always high. Relying on a single source of heat can be seen as an advantage in some cases, but with a central heating system that is always grinding to a halt as soon as the boiler stops working it ends up being a major weakness.
Lifestyle radiators and Sunray electric heaters don’t have this issue because they are modular units that can be installed and replaced individually should any problem arise. There is also the added advantage of being able to create custom programming schedules and temperature levels that suit the various room in your home according to how much they are used.
Getting an ATC lifestyle electric radiator means having a heating system that is not only controllable but also easy to install – all you have to do is simply plug the Lifestyle electric heater into the nearest 3-pin socket you can find the device is ready to go.
What to look for when getting an ATC Lifestyle Electric Radiator?
1. Consider the Wattage
One of the first things to consider when looking to buy Lifestyle electric radiators is whether they have the right wattage to heat the area they will be placed in. The larger the room will be, the higher wattage device it will require, and in some cases, multiple Lifestyle electric heater units may be needed to adequately warm up the space.
You can get an ATC lifestyle electric radiator LS500 with 500W, the LS750 with 750W, THE LS1000 with 1000W, and so on. At Meteor Electrical, you have the options from 500W to as high as 1800W among Lifestyle electric33333 radiators.
A good way to figure out how much wattage you will need from the ATC lifestyle radiator range is by rounding up to the next nearest wattage when choosing a device. This will make sure that you avoid purchasing a product that may be underpowered for the specific room size.
If a Lifestyle heater with a more powerful radiator than required is purchased, there is no disadvantage and it only means that the ATC Lifestyle electric radiator will switch off more often than usual once the room is properly heated.
An underpowered Lifestyle heater will cause problems on the other hand, because it will end up struggling to heat the space and waste excessive energy in the process.
2. Type of Heating Method
Some electric radiators use dry thermal elements which are quick to heat but also quick to cool, while oil-filled electric radiators are devices that retain for longer but are much slower when it comes to responding to changes.
This is why you will have to think about what type of heating method you will prefer when getting an electric heater, whether it is an ATC Lifestyle electric radiator or something from the Sunray electric heaters series.
Types of Electric Heaters
- Low-consumption radiators – Low consumption heaters contain a fluid that has greater thermal inertia than water. What this means is that once you turn the device off, it takes much longer to cool down than a normal radiator.
The drawback with a low-consumption radiator is that once you turn the device on, it will take much longer to warm up the area compared to other heating solutions. This device is recommended for slow, moderate heating for long periods. - Battery-powered radiators – Battery-powered radiators are the ideal device for when you are looking to save on electricity bills because you can make full use of the off-peak vs. peak-time distinction. In addition, you can set up these radiators to store heat during certain times and have them release the heat at other times. The best way to do this is to store it at night and release it during the hours you will be at home. Battery-powered heaters are best for homes where you do not require the heating to be on constantly to survive.
- Thermo-electric oil radiators – Thermo-electric heaters such as the ATC Lifestyle electric radiator contain a fluid that is heated by an electrical resistor. This setup allows the Lifestyle heater to produce a stable and smooth temperature that is distributed evenly throughout the device.
In addition, ATC lifestyle radiator devices are included with low-consumption heaters because they continue to give off heat even after they are switched off. They are often recommended for situations where moderate heating for long periods is required. - Dry electric heaters – Dry thermal radiators are designed specifically for rooms and areas that need to be heated as quickly as possible. This is why once they are switched on, they heat up rapidly but once switched off, the temperature will drop sharply as the heat disappears.
It is important to note that this device only emits heat for a limited period and this is why it is only recommended for rooms that are already well-insulated and are not used that frequently. - Quartz heaters – Quartz heaters function by the use of infrared radiation so they are good at heating things at a shorter range compared to other devices. Another major difference is that they do not heat the air like other electric radiators, but the objects around them instead.
One benefit of this device is that they do not dry out the atmosphere and are good at preserving the balance between relative humidity, temperature, and air movement. They are recommended for small spaces such as bathrooms.
3. Electric Radiator Running Costs
Just like with any other heating system, whether it is the ATC lifestyle electric radiator or one of the Sunray electric heaters, it is not just the unit price of the heater that you have to consider but also things like the installation costs, running costs, and potential ongoing maintenance.
Some of the main benefits of ATC Sun Ray RF and ATC lifestyle radiator units are that they do not require annual checks and most can be installed by the user themselves (though contacting professional experts to do the job is still recommended). This means you can save money from the get-go.
In addition, comparing gas and electric tariffs can make it easy to get caught up in what the unit price is but an ATC lifestyle electric radiator offers a level of control that is far beyond what a central heating system can provide. This makes Lifestyle radiators the more economical choice.
Although the running costs for any heating system tend to vary from property to property because of all the different variables present, the important factors to remember are your thermostat, insulation, property location, and current energy tariff.
